Dongle selection guide

The dongle form of copy protection has been around for many years in trouble free operation. Drivers need to be installed and these are provided by Ridgewood Software for all applicable operating systems. The dongle is available in two types, USB and LPT. Please ensure that you order the type best suited to your needs. In the event you order the wrong type, a service charge will be made to change it.

USB - Because this version cannot cause any conflicts with printers or other parallel port devices, this is the recommended option providing your computer and operating system supports USB. All versions of Windows from 98SE onwards supports USB except Windows NT. Check the system settings on your computer and ensure that USB support is installed.

LPT - Many computers and most operating systems will support the printer parallel port dongle. The dongle is a pass through connector that should not cause any problems with printing. In some very rare cases it could be found that if a printer is connected then it may need to be switched on to allow proper function of the dongle. Note that many modern computers are no longer supplied with parallel printer port.
